This work takes a lively and occasionally melancholic journey through foreign domains decorated by exotic landscapes, flowers, and rainbows. Two hundred forty semi-abstract images were painted by the composer to accompany the music. These help relate the story and were painted on glass or acetate and then converted to photographic transparencies. The images change in rhythmic synchronization with the music. Representing a conscious break with graduate school training, this music is decidedly "pop-ish" in nature. Very upbeat and rhythmic, this was the composer’s first work to take on tour in North and South America.
